Jeff Han demos his breakthrough touch screen

I think we will never stop trying to perfect what we know as touch screen technology, probably in the future it will get to the point where you don’t even have to touch the screen anymore you will just say the command out loud and the interface will do it.

I'm very excited about the multi-hand technology because it's no longer limiting us, now you can just use it as you understand it, like Jeff says there is no manual for it.

Another thing that I liked is when he said that we should not be conforming to the keyboards and mouse and other things, I really like the idea of one unit having all the things you need in it.

also I like to express that i dream of the day that illustrator Photoshop, flash, etc, will be done with touch screen technology and we no longer be slaves of the mouse or paths.

iPad Magazine Art Direction

Call me old school but for me there is nothing that will substitute the experience of reading a normal magazine, so taking in consideration that this is very new and people have to get use to it, I still really agree when the narrator says that the magazines on the iPad “pales in comparison” to the real thing, specially in the GQ one because when you have physically the magazine and everything is so interesting, and I was very disappointed because when the articles where shown, most of them were on a blank fond with very little design it almost felt like when you are doing research on the internet, instead of when you are reading something for fun, I feel like there is an endless list of possibilities of what they can do to make up for not having the actual magazine in your hands, like the interview video and they are not exploding that.

The Future of Web Content – HTML5, Flash & Mobile Apps

If you are going to read this article you better know a bit about html and all that this involves, because I found it kind of confusing and I’m supposed to know a little bit about it, but if you are up to the challenge I think you will find that this is a very interesting article.

For me it was interesting because first of all I was one of those people who thought that html5 was going to replace flash, and now I know that for now this replacement is not possible, but who knows, maybe in the future there will be something with more reach and both of this thing will be dead.

Also it was nice to know a little more about the intricate ways both of this things (flash and html5) work and a little about their history, I almost feel like this two things are like the neighbors that don’t get along to well but still help each other, because they force one another to keep getting better a very keeping up with the Jones’s sort of thing but we are the ones that keep getting the benefits of this so I hope the fight continues.

Moreee braaaains!

For the multimedia project we have the idea of making a game, not a typical high score wins sort of game but a simple fun one, there will be no winners or losers, it will just be a way to pass the time or distract your mind for a bit, the inspiration for this came with fly guy a free game that you can play online whenever you want to, on this game the guy jumps and starts flying to encounter all sorts of characters and situations on the process of going from the sky to space then sea and finally he ends up in a beach all while interacting with every random character he meets in the process.

This is what we want to do, because there is no right or wrong, no logic to any of it, its just pure and simple fun, but to make it even more random we wish to make it with a zombie theme that’s why this blog is called more brains in our game there will be brains as well as other characters making our zombie do different stuff every time he gets one, it can go from happy dancing to killing an innocent lady to eat her brain, or maybe not so expected zombie stuff maybe reading the news paper or fishing, we think that the fact that it is a zombie allows the character to get away with more, there for we have an endless list of possibilities for him to do, so the game will be cute, fun and distressful in a very dark and twisted sort of way.

Here is the link to our inspiration game fly guy hope you have as much fun playing as we did, don’t forget to rock with the alien guy.

Natasha Tsakos' multimedia theatrical adventure

Natasha Tsakos created the play named Up Wake in this play she doesn’t speak or interact with any other actors instead she created a multimedia based experience, and her movements synchronized with the screens, the lights, etc. create a 3D effect, I really think is a shame I didn’t know about this play earlier because I really would have liked to be able to experience it.

In the video she explains how theater makes everyone come together and I think it’s admirable the way she pushed her limits and her self to make every single person on the audience have the same emotions and feelings and really come together with this unique method. She also pointed how technology is our instrument and I think she was able to use it in a very intelligent and creative way in order to accomplish what she did, to make her play so simple yet remarkable in every good way is no easy task in this era were everybody is trying to have the latest and the greatest.

Finally I liked how she ends the speech saying that we are on era were communication, connection and creative collaboration is possible and invites us to revolutionize the way we think, I think in this very simple words she explained all the essence of the play and made me want to know more about it.

A Conversation with Martin Scorsese: The Importance of Visual Literacy

I really enjoyed hearing the perspectives of the director Martin Scorsese in this video he has a lot of interesting points, it is also good to know what somebody who has dedicated his whole life to the art of making movies has to say about all this things. For example there is a part were he is talking about the tools he uses and how this tools become part of a vocabulary, I think this is a very interesting thing because I never got to thinking how my mind was being told to look here or there whenever I’m watching a video and how all of this details only work together to transmit the message that the director wants to transmit.

The part about how ideas and emotions are expressed in visual form in a video or film was also very interested but I was a bit disappointed that he ended the sentence with “video or film” I know on this video he was talking specifically about that, but I think this applies to an endless list of visual art, photography, dance, painting, graphic design just to name a few, even interior design where every item is put on a specific place to make the room transmit a certain feeling.

He also spoke about how is our responsibility to tell the story and then said something about one of his films, that he knew that could not be shown on tv because it was not for kids and how he didn’t want it to be shown on tv because the film would have been edited to the point that he could not care less about it, I respect this a lot because I think is very important to know who your work is for and what your work is and respect it by not letting it be mess with because somebody doesn’t like it or just for showing it some wear.

Finally I also enjoyed the part about training the eye, that is not about taking or writing notes and memorizing all the films is about to looking at a film and know what that represents.

Geri's Game

Geri’s game is a Pixar Animation Studios short film that I find very interesting because first of all its very obvious that the animations is very well done, but that is no surprise since it was made by Pixar, what I really like about this is how they were able to turn something increasable sad into a fun thing to watch, the short film is about a lonely old man that has no other option but to play chess with him self and even looks a bit crazy, I don’t think i know any person who would think that general idea is fun or funny but Pixar managed set the mood by using warm colors and showing certain emotions in the character, that you actually enjoy watching this and even laugh about it.

Wired magazine goes digital

In my opinion you can not possibly get the same experience with a virtual magazine than with a normal one, however you can make it an impressive remarkable and much more interactive experience when going virtual just as it shows on the video with the different articles and adds I think that will stay in the minds of the consumers for a while, so this new platforms of magazines can give designers endless possibilities when thinking of new ways to make an add or article, they can make the experience with the reader much more memorable and personal, for this kind of gadgets, creativity has no boundaries and we should really be thankfully that we live in an era that we can use that to our advantage. Sadly not everyone will have the opportunity of experiencing this, so I hope they don’t live the normal magazines behind in a quest for trying to make their app the most memorable one.

iPad

I think the iPad is the best gadget for people who travel a lot, it would be great to have all you need to entertain yourself in one piece but other than that I don’t believe there is much use to the iPad unless you wish you had a bigger iPhone, speaking off, I wonder what will happened to it, people who already have an iPhone and can not afford an iPad are going the be left on the middle because the already existing application are going to be modified to be iPad apps and all the new ones are going to be created specifically for the iPad so what use will the iPhone with out the apps? That’s what makes it unique and desirable and with the Skype app you don’t even need the actual phone part anymore.

Also I’m not a big fan of the book store because I much rather read the book on paper because when I try to read something in the computer after a while the light starts to bother me, buts that just my way of doing stuff.

Sadly I could not find a video parody of the iPad but looking for it I found this iPhone one and thought it was funny...
